Competition Rules The races will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the IAAF, the JAAF and the Race Organizer. IAAF Road Race Label Regulations also apply to the Saitama International Marathon 2015, which has been certified by the IAAF as a Silver Label road race.
Japanese National Team Challengers
1.Invited athletes
Female athletes invited by the JAAF and race organizers.
2.General runners
  • Applicants must be at least 19 years of age on the day of the race and must be JAAF-registered athlete for the year 2015.
  • Athletes must meet the designated time standard as follows. Qualifying times must be run on or after November 1, 2013 at certified races.
    (1) marathon: sub-3:30:00
    (2) half-marathon: sub-1:40:00
  • Athletes recommended by the JAAF and the organizers

  • Men and women at least 19 years old on race day who can run sub-4:00:00 in the marathon.
  • 2015 JAAF registered members.
  • Non-JAAF members.
3 km Race Junior high school-aged or older males and females.
1.5 km Race Male and female elementary school 5th and 6th graders.
Family Fun Run The pair of elementary school 1st – 4th grader and his/her parent or guardian.

1) There will be no runner check-in on race day (Nov. 15).
2) Runner check-in is not possible at times other than those listed above.
Regarding handling of personal information
1. Regarding handling of personal information
(1)The organizers and associated parties recognize the importance of personal information and will both fully comply with the Personal Information Protection Act and related laws and regulations and handle personal information according to the organizers’ privacy policy.
(2)In order to offer the best service to race participants, we will make use of personal information for participation information, result notification, notification of relevant information, information about future editions of the race, service offers from race sponsors, partners and other associated organizations, result announcements, rankings etc. The content of all applications by organizers, the JAAF or subcontractors for use of personal information will be subject to verification contact.
2. Other
(1)No refunds of entry fees will be given in the event of the race’s cancellation due to reasons beyond the responsibilities of the organizers.
(2)Organizers will not perform health examinations. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that they are in sufficiently good health to participate.
(3)Organizers will provide First Aid for accidents that occur during the race but do not assume subsequent responsibility.
(4)Doping control will be performed in accordance with IAAF Anti-Doping rules and regulations and the Japan Anti-Doping Code. It should be noted that in both pre-race and post-race testing at this event urine, blood or both will be collected. Qualified personnel will conduct the tests according to instructions. Athletes not registered with the JAAF must follow the same procedures.
Please bring ID card with face photograph; student card, driver’s license card or copy of passport. They are required if the athletes is requested to examine the doping-test.
(5)TUE Applications
Competitors who must use prohibited substances or methods, as defined according to the International Standard Prohibited List, for the therapeutic treatment of illness are required to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). (6) Acquisition of consent for doping control test from parental authorities of minor athletes In accordance with a revision to the World Anti-Doping Code, international standards and the Japan Anti-Doping Code, effective Jan. 1, 2015, when a minor (under 20 years old) athlete participates in a competition it is necessary to obtain a signed consent form for doping control test from the athlete’s parental authorities.
1. Minors participating in this race must carefully read the attached consent form, bring the original signed and stamped copy to the race and carry it with them. The consent form can also be downloaded from: http://www.jaaf.or.jp/pdf/doisho.pdf
2. If a minor athlete is selected for doping control test, the original form will be submitted to the testing laboratory by the NFR (race medical representative). It is only necessary to submit an original consent form once as a minor. If an athlete is selected for doping control test for the second time as a minor after having previously submitted a consent form tell the NFR that an original form has already been submitted. If doping control test is performed at the race venue without submission of an original consent form, an original consent form must by submitted to the JAAF office within 7 days after the testing.
